The performers are the Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir, Cappella Amsterdam, the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra and soprano Carolyn Sampson, under direction of Daniel Reuss.<br \/>\nPoulenc\u2019s &#8220;Stabat Mater&#8221;, which the composer describes as a \u2019requiem without despair\u2019 was written in 1950 following the death of his friend, artist Christian B\u00e9rard, a leading figure of 1940s Paris. Poulenc\u2019s masterly work is dedicated to the Virgin of Rocamadour.<\/p>\n<p>EPCC has had a close cooperation for years with Harmonia Mundi, one of the finest independent record companies.
